Day 1
1 NIGHT MAUN
Upon arrival you will be picked from the airport to the lodge in Maun, refresh and rest for the next day of the tour.
Day 2 - 3
2 NIGHTS OKAVANGO DELTA
0730 am
Around this time you will be picked from the lodge, and a transfer will be done to one of the channels of Okavango delta about 1hr 30min to 2hr drive.
The Okavango Delta is a unique pulsing wetland, more correctly an alluvial fan and it covers 15 000 square kilometres of Kalahari Desert in northern Botswana. It owes its existence to the Okavango (Kavango) River which flows from the Angolan highlands, across Namibia‟s Caprivi Strip and into the harsh Kalahari Desert.
The Okavango Delta is renowned for its tranquil, crystal clear water ways and papyrus-fringed channels. This is where the talented native people, well experienced in their well crafted traditional transport the „ mokoro‟ take you on an unforgettable journey in the waters of Okavango delta. Okavango delta is home to wide variety of most sought-after bird species. In general its a bird watcher paradise with over 450 bird species recorded. Okavango delta also houses elephants, lions, buffalos, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and many species of antelope1200 pm
Arrival at Duanara village where you will get on mokoro boats to transfer you to your campsite. The village is famous for the Daunara Foundation‟s mission which is to uplift the community of the village and its surrounding villages, by ensuring the benefits of the tourism industry flow through to the communities and create long-term benefits for the community as a whole.
Arrival at the campsite, set up the camp and have lunch
Rest and freshen up.1500hrs.
Go for an afternoon Mokoro activity as the first activity in the magnificent lagoons of the Okavango Delta where you will get to enjoy a concentration of wild animals and water birds. Do not be surpised to find youselve paddling the canoe/ mokoro using the traditional paddle called „ nkashi‟. Yes you may wonder how it looks like, but just a long stick that really requires skills to get the canoe on the straight path.
Get back and have dinner followed by campfire with traditional storytelling and dance.
Next day between 0530 and 0600, wake up call
Take breakfast. First activity is an early safari walk guided by local professional guides through the shrubs of the Okavango delta where you will learn and acknowledge different types of landscape and wild animals. Be on the lookout for different types of birds too.
Head back to camp after the walk for lunch. Before lunch you may siesta to ease down from the walk or have lunch then siesta.Get back to camp enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by our professional Chefs.
Freshen up, rest in the camp and get to learn more about the diversity of the Okavango and staggering surroundings. From Papyrus lined waterways peppered with lilies to open grass plains dotted with palm trees and wild sage, mopane forests and the ancient baobab trees and acacia.
Enjoy buffet dinner followed by campfire spiced with folklores, and spend the last night in the Okavango Delta while packing up getting ready for the next camp tomorrow.Day 4 - 5
2 NIGHTS Xini Moremi
0600- 0700 hrs.
You will be woken up to the new day for a shower, leave your tents with your packed luggage bags then enjoy breakfast. After breakfast get the luggage and load into the boats for transfer across the river where there will be vehicles waiting at the pick up station.
After having secured all the luggage in the vehicles a 3 and half to 4 hour drive to XINI ( moremi begins. The road to Xini is well known for its African massage properties which for sure will be endured by every one in the wilderness vehicle. The journey will have stop overs and game drives all the way till arrival at the campsite in XINI around 1730hrs.. Upon arrival, camp hand man will off load the vehiclet while the guide shows you around the campsite. After resting dinner will be ready, shower and enjoy dinner and listen as the chef explains the tricks of his cuisine and after dinner you can gather with camping staff around camping fire and interact with sharing stories.Next day,
This morning you wake up in a new dawn of different landscape.
0530 am, warm water is ready for you to freshen up your face and have breakfast.
After breakfast you embark on game drive vehicle and immense yourselves in the magnificent wilderness of Xini Moremi.“ Moremi Game Reserve is rated as one of Africa's finest game-viewing areas, take this opportunity to interact with our professional guide, ask questions and learn about wildlife, birdlife and vegetation found in these big lagoons.”
Head back to camp right on time for lunch followed by rest and some who want to shower this is the right time because shower at night is deemed not safe.
After you rest, enjoy again afternoon gamedrive for 3hours till sunset
Head back to camp after the drive and rest a little while before the call for dinner at 1930
This is your last night here, so packing well on time will be ideal, but first let‟s have dinner.Day 6
1 NIGHT KHWAI MOREMI
Good morning, wakeup call at 5am, freshen up and grab a light breakfast before heading on a 3 hour game drive while the camp hand man breaks up the campsite preparing for your next destination. During this game drive, learn excessively about the change of landscape through the previous destination and also learn about the vegetation, wildlife and birdlife.
After the game drive, head back to camp where you will find the camp hand man has packed and ready with also a packed brunch for you to enjoy while we transit to Moremi.Covering around 1800 square kilometers khwai moremi concession is in the north eastern of the Okavango delta. Moremi Game Reserve is one of the great safari destinations in Botswana. Voted best game reserve in Africa in the past, Moremi was the first wildlife sanctuary to be created by an African tribe on their own lands. The Batawana people, concerned about wildlife depletion, are now stewards of Moremi. Ideally located in the central and eastern region of the Okavango Delta, moremi offers remote and secluded adventures in private concessions. Moremi is home to the Moremi Tongue and Chief‟s Island, featuring one of the most varied ecosystems in Africa. Witness the raw, untouched beauty of the open bush, widely acknowledged as the predator capital of the world. The region promises up-close views of unique wildlife and flourishing vegetation. What is expected there? Lions, leopard, wilddogs, hyena, well I can tell you Huge elephants as compared to other areas.
Upon arrival, the camp hand has already set up tent and the chef has lunch right about ready. Enjoy lunch and rest for our next activity later in the afternoon.
We have one night in Khwai Moremi, meaning this afternoon game drive will be the first and last in this location. Notice a mix of forests, floodplains, lagoons and waterways dotted with lilies. Dry and wetlands allow for stunning contrasts, and support a staggering diversity of wildlife with some 500 bird species.
After the gamedrive, head to camp, freshen up and have dinner. After dinner, enjoy bonfire story telling but head to bed early as tomorrow we go to our next location.Day 7 - 8
2 NIGHTS SAVUTE
On the this day, you will rise up just before daybreak, pack your luggage and exit your tents and have breakfast.
Get on a game drive which will be our last activity in Khwai, and we will be transiting to Savuti with game drive and stop over to delight on packed lunch on the way.
Savute (or Savuti) is a remote corner of Chobe National Park renowned for its explosive big game viewing and notorious lion pride that take down adult elephants. It is also known for its leopards that are spotted on the hills and of cause a hill exists with the name “ leopard hill” A totally different area with mixed landscape of hill, savanna and mash that attracts cheetahs because of its wide view area.
Straight drive from khwai to savuti will take approximately 3hrs but because of vast game and stunning landscape the journey will take long. Upon arrival in Savute game drive will continue till 1730 , the Chef and the Camp hand man would have arrived and the campsite set up and ready.Have dinner and enjoy story telling around born fire, and rest for the next day
Wake up early morning for some breakfast. Shortly thereafter, you leave for a morning game drive through the beautiful landscapes of Savute Marsh with some parked snacks.
Stop at the stretching point for a short break while having your snacks then continue with the game drive.
At the end of this educational drive, head back to camp where you‟ll find lunch ready. Eat, rest and take a wonderful refreshing shower.
In the afternoon we embark on an afternoon game drive around the different landscapes of Savuti, getting a chance to catch the savuti golden sunsets.
Head back to camp, freshen up.
Enjoy dinner and rest for the next day.Day 9 - 10
2 NIGHTS CHOBE
Good morning, let‟s wake up early, freshen up, have breakfast and rest while camp hand packs up then we head to Chobe National park.
Tucked up in Botswanas far northern border with Namibia is Chobe National park- one of the greatest wildlife destinations of Africa. This is the only park known for its large herd of elephants in Africa and estimated to be over 120000. Chobe National park is approximately 11700 square kilometers and it is made up of rich ecosystems and prestine landscape consisting of savanna plains, river, swamp and scrub. Winding through this beautiful ecosystem is the magnificent mighty chobe river. The Chobe River flows lazily through the Caprivi flood plains and provides a haven for huge herds of buffalo and elephant, zebra, wildebeest and impala which are followed closely by predators including lion, hyena, the elusive leopard and the odd pack of the now rare wild dog. The bird life in particular is exceptional.Arrive in Chobe National park, just as usual we continue with game drive until arrival at the camp site in the afternoon just before sunset.
Freshen up and have dinner. After dinner campfire will be the main sight of attraction luring everyone to band around It and finally retire for a night sleep.
-On this day, alarm call at 05:30hrs and freshen up the face with warm water in face wash basin. Have breakfas and take a Game drive to enjoy more of the highlights of the Chobe National park.
You will come back to the camp an hour and half before lunch just to rest and have lunch. After lunch you can rest and have a warm shower just before the afternoon gamedrive.
Just around 1530- 1600 afternoon game drive in chobe national park. This will continue till sun set ahead of chobe river. This will bring us to final dinner, final campfire and final night sleep in the wilderness of Botswana.Day 11
LUNCH AT CRESTA MOWANA
The last day which will be 11th day: In the morning you wake up around 0600 and have breakfast. After breakfast pack your luggage and bid the back up team farewell. after leaving the camp you will take a short game drive in chobe national park river front and exit the park at around 0900.
0930 -1230: boat cruise, boatcruise in the mighty chobe river with over 400 bird species, uncountable pod of hippos, crocodiles and of course all the different tribes of the wilderness , the impala, puku, waterbuck, elephants, buffalos and many more can be seen on the shores of chobe river while cruising next to them.
1230 will mark the end of our safari with a buffet lunch at cresta mowana hotel.
